Serbian Names

Serbian names are the newest addition to the database. All week, I'll be adding surnames, which can be found here.

Serbia is located in Eastern Europe and was part of the former Republic of Yugoslavia. Could you have identified Serbia on a map of Europe? Just for fun, you can test your knowledge by filling in as many European countries as you can in 5 minutes.

Italian Surnames - 1,132 and counting

And Zucco makes 1,132! The Italian surnames category has grown considerably this week. Check them out here.

If you would like to know more about specific names, including their meanings and etymology, check out behindthename.com and surname.behindthename.com.

Next I'll be adding first names and famous Italians along with the other languages I mentioned in the last blog post (Arabic, Bosnian and Turkish lead in the home page poll). Make your vote count too - I would love to hear from you via the poll or email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Hey Mambo, Mambo Italiano!

This morning, there are 449 Italian surnames in the database. By the end of the day, there will be 200 more. Abbracciavento and Balducci are up and soon Fibonacci (for students) and Ghirardelli (for chocolate lovers) will join them.

Italian will take over as the category with the most names on the site, surpassing Spanish (529) and English USA (488).

The next categories to be added are: Arabic, Turkish, Slovenian, Macedonian, Croatian, Serbian and Montenegrin, and Bosnian. Vote for your choice on the homepage.
